Our Echocardiography Department prides itself on providing the highest quality service possible. We use the latest state-of-the-art echocardiography equipment, with our Armadale practice recently acquiring a 3-Dimensional Ultrasound Machine to complement our current 3D service at our Subiaco rooms. Our university-trained sonographers are highly proficient in both 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional echocardiography.
Transthoracic Echocardiogram
An echocardiogram is test that uses ultrasound to assess the structure and function of the heart. It similar to the ultrasound performed on pregnant women. You will be required to remove all your clothing from the waist up.
The sonographer will hook you up to an ECG, and place an ultrasound probe and gel at various places on your chest. During the study you will hear noises which reflect the blood flow through your heart. Ultrasound is a safe modality, and does not pose any risks to the patient.

You will be required to remove your clothing from the waist up (ladies will be supplied with a hospital gown), so please wear a two-piece outfit. |
